It's that time of the year again when I make my birthday wish list. And you know what's the best part in making a wishlist? It's crossing out some of the stuff I listed last year because I already got them already! Woohoo!!!
Music: The Eraserheads catalog on CD to replace my cassette tapes. Haha! Except Ultraelectromagneticpop and the Anthologies and Ultraelectromagneticjam 'coz I already have those. And I also (especially) want the Fruitcake book which I can find nowhere now. A Beatles songbook (sana yung Jingle, pero OK lang kung hindi). Kumpas. ARGH that album rocks. (Thanks, Ana and Comm Dept!) Oh, and I want my violin to be stringed (and tuned) again.
Movies: Groundhog Day, Kung Fu Panda, Clueless and the Disney movies (from Little Mermaid to Mulan) on original DVD. And TokiKake. And Spirited Away. And Howl's Moving Castle.
Techie: MY OWN CAMERA! A new monitor for my PC, and a flash drive. And a TABLET. And my own Macbook (or, fine, at least an Asus EEE PC.)
Books: Pride and Prejudice. Spiderwick Chronicles. The books borrowed from me but were never returned: The Four Comedies by Shakespeare, and This Present Darkness. The Mediator series (and Jinx, too!) by Meg Cabot. How to Draw Manga. Check out my Shelfari account for my book wishlist.
Houseness: I still want my room to be repainted...someday. That's not the priority now, though because I wish even more to move to an apartment of my own.
Studyisms: Japanese lessons again, violin lessons again, cello lessons... All (or any) of that fit my schedule (and my wallet).
Tonight was one of the most fun, awesome, rocking and...surreal nights of my life.
Tonight was the long-awaited Eraserheads Reunion Concert, which had become more and more epic as each day passed. There's a lot of history leading to that statement, but to cut a long story short: the concert was a rumor, and then it was confirmed, and then the whole ticketing business was shrouded in mystery, and then word came out that it wasn't going to push through, and then it was going to push through, and that was announced three days before the concert and then Ely Buendia's mother passed away, but the concert still pushed through. (Er...that wasn't too short, was it?)
Honestly, I kind of hoped that they would postpone the concert, even if I'm a super Eraserheads fan. I mean, SERIOUSLY. The frontman's mother just passed away. I personally would like him to spend time with his family and all, instead of going on stage just because the show must go on. There was a lot of stress on the whole band because of the reunion concert alone, and Ely's mom's passing would add to the stress! But they decided to go with the concert, so...yeah.
Being total Eraserheads fans, Ivy and I met at Serendra for lunch so we could go inside the concert grounds early and get a decent position. We had lunch at Conti's (and had this super yummy Mocha Frappe!!!) before heading on over to the concert grounds. We met June and Izay and their many other friends. Too bad I didn't see my brother and the rest of the Bagetsafonik boys... and I didn't see the many other bloggers who were there, too. Ah well.
The concert was AWESOME. There was a 10-minute countdown (I think that was kind of too long. They should've just counted down from 5 minutes max) before the band launched the concert with Alapaap, which, for me, was the perfect song to start the concert with. There was fireworks and pyrotechnics and all that jazz, but even without the flashy stuff, the first song ROCKED. And so did all the other songs.
MAN, I gotta tell you: the Eraserheads really were something else. As much as I love Ely in Pupil, Buddy in The Dawn, Raimund in Sandwich, and Marcus in Marcus Highway, there really was something different when they put their Heads together. Their chemistry was different, and MAN they were awesome tonight!!! I don't know about everybody else, but to me, it was as if the band hadn't stopped playing together. (And it was as if there wasn't any friction before, either. They all complemented each other, and no one outstaged anybody else.)
They played their songs flawlessly. From Ligaya to With a Smile to Hey Jay, Sembreak, Kaliwete, Fruitcake, Shake Yer Head, and all the other songs in the awesome first set. I loved it when Raimund stood up behind the drums in Harana. I don't know why, really. Haha! Buddy's basslines was LUV and Ely was...well... Ely. 'Nuff said. Too bad Marcus' hand had more video exposure than Marcus himself. Hehe.
The crowd was going crazy (myself included) because... well, this was just the band that pretty much left a HUGE dent in Philippine music and helped shape it as we know it today. Those guys are legends. And they pretty much shaped my musical preferences, too, since I grew up listening to them since I was in 3rd grade.
They played my three most favorite songs: Kailan, Huwag Kang Matakot and, finally, LIGHTYEARS!!! My ultimate favorite song EVER!!! That was their last song for the first set, and they went backstage for a 20-minute intermission.
So, again, the countdown clock was flashed on the screen, and we were all taking it easy...Until the 20-minute countdown disappeared. It was weird, and we decided that it must be because the people involved (band and crew?) thought that maybe they couldn't go on in 20 minutes. This was perfectly fine, of course... but I felt really weird then. Somehow I felt that something was wrong...especially since Ely sat down onstage after Lightyears. Well, the guy must be tired after everything that's happened, so...yeah.
Twenty minutes passed, and the band wasn't back on stage.
Another minute. And another. And another.
I was starting to wonder what was going on backstage.
And then some people went on stage. Crew people attending to the instruments. And then some more people came on stage. Buddy, Marcus, and Raimund. And they were not making their way to their instruments. And Ely was not on stage with them.
No way.
Instead of Ely, there was a girl with Buddy, whom he introduced as Lally Buendia, Ely's sister.
No. Way.
And then Lally announced that Ely had to be rushed to the hospital because of emotional stress.
So, yes, the concert had to be cut short. But honestly? I didn't have the mind to be frustrated over that. I was worred about Ely! Waaaaa! A dude from MTV called a one-minute silent prayer for Ely. After that we were requested to exit the concert grounds in an orderly fashion.
The audience didn't move. We were all hanging around, sort of waiting for more news or...something. I was feeling incredibly strage. I mean, one minute I was feeling ecstatic because I was watching one of my favorite bands of all time in a reunion concert, and then suddenly the vocalist and writer was in the hospital. GAAAAH! It was surreal!
Realizing that being in a worried daze wasn't helping anyone, Ivy and I left to go home, and while we were walking we decided to pray a bit more for Ely and his family, and the rest of the Heads, as well. I think those prayers calmed us some, too...
And so here I am, 2 hours later, safe at home. I was informed a few minutes ago that Ely was conscious, and that his condition was stable. PHEW! Thank God. Even so, I'll keep praying for them. The guy needs rest. I'm praying even more for Lally. I mean, she just lost her mother, and now her brother was collapsing in a concert. MAN. I can't even begin to imagine how she's feeling.
So, yes, the night took a weird turn that no one expected. But I, for one, was satisfied with how the concert turned out (excluding the Ely collapsing bit). I would have wanted more songs, of course, but the first set has already made me happy. Watching the Heads perform those first 15 songs together, after so long, was already worth my 1300-peso ticket. A part two of this reunion would be nice, but I'm not expecting it... And if it should happen, I don't think it'll be any time soon. But I'll be keeping my ears open. Meanwhile, let's pray for Ely and his family during this time of mourning.
So the questions just made me scour my brain for what I remember from college, since the only programming languages I really use now are PHP and SQL (and occasionally javascript). It made me want to revisit Java, though. I remember this one sem when Java was, like, most favorite thing to work with. Hehe.
Huh. I won't object to that, I think. Hehe. Take the quizzes, too, and tell me what you got! :)Original post: Of Programming Languages and Wedding Dresses on Random Snowflakes
I rarely get sick. I only get colds around 1-2 times a year, and even when my hyperacidity strikes it only renders me immobile for a few hours. Migraine headaches are pretty frequent, but nothing a couple of Advil and several hours of sleep can't cure.
But this. O-hoho. This, whatever it is, is a biggie. Big, and downright weird.
Monday Because of a fun but exhausting weekend with friends, family, and ministry, Monday morning found me exhausted. I woke up with a good mood but heavy muscles. The clock told me that I was late for work, and the rain was pouring outside. Classic. So I decided to stay home. "Best not to get sick," I had said. So monday was rest day. Woohoo.
But I ended up working on side projects, anyway. But at least I was in the comfort of my bed.
Tuesday I woke up feeling sort of okay... The weather was better, so I said, "Up and at 'em!" By the time I got to work, I was still feeling not quite normal, but I was on my way there, right? Wrong.
Lunchtime found me without energy and appettite. My officemates told me to go home. I really wanted to do just that, but I didn't want to travel for one and a half hours by myself when I was feeling sick. That afternoon, I was having chills and I was lightheaded. When six o'clock finally came, I went home with Ana, thank God for her, and our travel went without incident.
I crashed on my bed at eight, after light dinner.
Wednesday I woke up with a HUGE headache. Not a migraine one, with which I'm very well acquainted. Just a "normal" headache, only it's really...well...painful. It was so bad that I didn't have the mind to call in sick for work.
Felt better in the afternoon, and went to sleep early again, hoping for a full recovery.
Thursday (Today) Finally feeling better, but now the stomach thing is back. One minute I feel like retching, and in the next I feel perfectly fine. Arrrrrrrgh. I feel too sick to be useful, but too well to be useless. And ARGH I hate it.
So now here I am, still in bed, trying to get really really well-rested so I can go back to work tomorrow. It'll be Friday, so in case I'll get sick (again), I have the weekend.
My mom tells me that I've been working too hard (real job+side projects). Add that to the rainy weather and travel to and from work, and you get a Sarah with very low resistance to sickness. Meh. It's logical, I guess, but...MEH!
I'm sure it'd be safe to say that I'm not the only person in the world loving David Archuleta's new single. And, no, before you ask, Crush is not a cover of that song several years ago by Mandy Moore.
David's voice being beautiful is already a given, so let's not talk about that. Let's talk about the song.
Lyrically, I think it's pretty cool how it suits David's age. I mean, seriously. The boy's barely eighteen, and I, for one, would be a little put out if his first single would be about things that a teen-ager couldn't have experienced yet. But then the way the song is written isn't flat and shallow, either. I think the melody helped it, too. It's positive with a teeny tiny helping of angst and uncertainty...like a dash of salt that you can barely notice, but without it the dish would be bland.
Speaking of the melody, I think it totally fits David's range and genre, don't you agree?
My night didn't start well, actually. Chique and I were supposed to leave work at exactly 6 o'clock, but work came flowing in (as usual) at five, so I had to work extra fast to make our 6 o'clock deadline. I finished about 15 minutes behind schedule. And then it was raining mercilessly outside. ARGH!
Not to be discouraged, we charged forth and made it to the PhilSports arena by seven (I think). We ended up in the bleachers, which wasn't my section of choice... Well, with young people lining up outside the stadium since lunchtime, I guess it wouldn't really matter much if we got there at five.
There was a bit more time for me to take a deep breath and refocus my thoughts to the upcoming worship time (as opposed to the stress and traffic outside) so by the time the music started, I was up and ready. The praise and worship was crazy cool and terrific, but I think what made the night super special for me is what I learned. I got so much out of that short period of time (and I'm still trying to process all of it) but for now I'm only going to focus on one thing of the things that really struck me:
Most of us have an idea that our lives—compared to the expanse of the universe, the length of eternity and the greatness of God—is but a matchstick. When you light a matchstick, it's super cool to look at as a hot fire blazes... But after several seconds, the fire runs out of stick, and all what's left is a teeny tiny burnt piece of wood.
If that matchstick was my life, then I can say, "Wow, checkit! Look at my fire! I'm so cool and stuff!" (which may be true) but what happens when the fire runs out? What has my life been lived for? Did I get born just to study, graduate, get a job, live on my own, get a hubby, have kids, retire and then die?If that were true then that'd be an awfully boring life.
But what if my life was like a little matchstick that, after being lit, joins another fire... One that's bigger and brighter and does not run out? My fire and the bigger fire become one, and, even if my matchstick runs out, my fire will always burn with the bigger fire. In short, even when I die, the fire that was what I did in my life would continue burning, because it's part of a greater, mightier thing that God—the eternal, ever-living God—is doing in my generation, and the generations to come. That's super awesome!
I've heard before that the things we do for God have eternal value, but hearing it like that, with the matchstick and all, really struck me tonight. I don't want my life to be just 15 minutes of smokin' fame; I want to be with that big, magnificent fire! I want my fire to be with his fire... and I want everyone—everyone—to be with me with his fire...
Needless to say, this song, coupled with the Word that was shared earlier and the fact that the 8,000-something-something young people filling the PhilSports Arena were singing this in one voice, gave me the goosebumps and brought me to tears.
Passion in Manila was an awesome experience.
But, I'm sure, what's to come will be even more awesome.
So a couple of weeks ago, I got invited to be Jason Mraz's contact on imeem. Coolness!
Anyway.Jason's got this drawing contest where you can win 2 tickets and meet and greet passes to the Fall Tour. All we gotta do is make a super "unrecognizable doodle" of ourselves and make it our profile pic in imeem or myspace. So here I am joining just for the fun of it. Hehe. Check out my entry!
Shyeah, that's my doodledoodledoodle, made with my mouse— err... scratch that. I made it with my laptop's touchpad. And one layer in Adobe Photoshop. Wheee~ I decided against drawing in my glasses because nobody sees me with them anymore. Hehe.
Got your own Mrazy doodle? Post a link, and I'll visit it! :D
This has got to be one of the best news I've heard today!
On June 22, the IFMagazine.com entertainment website reported that film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix) is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop multi-genre action anime series for Fox. How awesome is that?
Finally, one of my childhood dreams has come true.
Presenting...
my new pet...
pandaaaaaa!
Ain't it ever so cute? I luv it!!!
It's so small it can stand on my hand and look at me with those adorable bead eyes. Heeheehee... It now stands on my office desk and watches me while I work.
I'm still trying to think of a name, though... I started looking into Japanese names, but I considered using Chinese for this little one since it did come all the way from Beijing (thank you, Crisaaaa!). So far the possibilities are:
Xiao xiao - means "small" Su Lin - means "a little bit from something cute". Also the name of a panda in San Diego.
Or simply Panda. Go with simple but effective LOL!
Any suggestions? :)
//EDIT He now has a name! The suggestions that came in were: Bruno, Bantay, George, Kot (as in Pandakot), Kekok (as in Pandakekok), K (as in PANDAk), Zebra (kasi black and white), Zhebra (kasi Pilipino, so may 'h' na siningit kung saan), Penda, and Mangix (hindi ko alam kung saan galing to).
But the winning name suggestion is: Coco, as in Panda Coco. Some might get the pun, others might not. But either way, it sounds...fitting...for some reason. It doesn't have any deep meaning, which is strange for me, the one who always picks names for their meanings. Hehe.
The other name that I got a kick out of was the Kekok suggestion, but I will not name my panda that. I allowed people to use that nickname for Coco, though.
Many thanks to my Plurk friends who gave me the suggestions!
And so my childhood memories of watching the series and singing the Astroboy theme song suddenly flooded back to me. Haaaaaaaay~ classic.
Anyway.
Since we're already halfway done with 2008, and 2009 is looming ahead, along with the Astroboy CGI movie (among others), this topic popped into my head. I first heard about it from Jori last year, but now, nearly a year later, my initial reaction remains: I'm excited but slightly nervous.
And skeptical.
Excited because the CG looks awesome (it IS Imagi Studios; they did good with TMNT), but I am slightly nervous because... well... Astroboy/Tetsuwan Atom was, after all, created by the father of anime, Osamu Tezuka (and it's arguably the first anime to be called that), and I wish not for my childhood memories related to it be ruined, just in case the movie turns out to be a disappointment.
(But dontcha just LOVE that poster? I know I do!)
The cast, however, looks promising, being loaded with amazing actors like Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy... But I'm not quite to confident with Freddie Highmore. I mean, lemme get this clear: I really like Freddie Highmore. He's such a sweetie, and I've loved him in Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Spiderwick (LOVED him in Spiderwick!!!). But as Astroboy? I can't quite imagine it yet. Ah, well. I've been pleasantly surprised with voice actors before, so I'm not closed-minded about this. He's a great actor, and, who knows? Maybe he can pull it off. I guess I'll just have to see.
I was revisiting my YouTube faves today, and decided that it's high time I listed them down on here. While this isn't really a Top 10 Youtube list based on popularity or anything like that, these are the vids that I've watched recently (and... not too recently) that I kept going back to.
Smooth E A series of facial foam commercials from Thailand. But it's not your typical beauty commercial. Why? Because it has comedy, action, romance, suspense... and even more comedy! Check it out!
The Season 2 espisodes are shorter than the first four, and they don't have one continuous story, but they're equally amusing. By the time you're done, the theme song will be playing over and over in your head, and you'll be smiling just remembering the commercials. Haha!
Kung Fusing This martial arts video is made so well that I watched it over and over even though I knew what the punchline was going to be. But aside from being hilarious, I think the commercial has a good message, too :) Watch it!
Hero Ha Being a Beatles fan, I'm very picky about amateur remakes. But this... This remake is something else. Hero is, at the time of writing, only four years old, but his Hey Jude rendition is already has a phenomenal following. And he has even performed on-stage! This kid is so cute, you're going to want to make baby sounds at him through your computer screen. Haha!
Ken Lee I won't say anything else for this, except: watch Ken Lee being performed at Music Idol.
Reynaldo Lapuz Honestly? I firmly believe that this guy didn't show up to audition to be the next American Idol. I think that he went there to make a comedic impact in the auditions... And that impact, he truly did make. Simon Cowell is always right, I think, and it can't be more obvious when he predicted that Reynaldo Lapuz's Brothers Forever would be a smash hit!
iBand You can do everything with your iPhone! Send text messages, make voice calls, take photos, watch videos, store music and... form a band! Haha! Watch the iBand as they perform Life is Greater than the Internet.
OK Go A rockin' band with a couple of rockin'ly hilarious videos (and several seriously rocking videos, too). If you haven't heard of them, click the links NOW. Here It Goes Again is my ultimate favorite OK go video, although One Million Ways is ingenious, too.
Moymoypalaboy This channel is my stress reliever. I LOVE how they make their videos, and they never fail to make me smile (and laugh, most usually). My favorite of their videos is Wannabe. But check out all their videos!
Algorithm March Based on a Japanese children's show called Pythagoras Switch, this algorithm march is incredibly random while being amazingly intelligent at the same time. It has sent hundreds (or even thousands) to doing the same thing; just search for "algorithm march" in YouTube and you'll get dozens of versions aside from the original ones.
Cheers And for today's finale, one of the most awesome commercial series I've ever seen! This series of Cheers ads are Thai-made, just like Smooth E, and encourages us to say "Cheers!" to every good thing in life. :)
Because of a recent blog post by Kix, I got Sara to dig through old photos to unearth a particular shot taken in December 4, 2005. Sara and I were on our way to the Quezon Avenue MRT station when we passed by:
...Habagat! ^_^
The sign says:
Donasyon lang po para sa dog show... "Habagat"Salamat po...
which translates to Donation please for the dog show, "Habagat". Thank you...
At first I thought that he was simply an amusing dog (I mean, seriously, that red hat and shades outfit is irresistible!!!), but when we read the piece of paper attached at the back of his throne, it turns out that Habagat performs dog tricks in several venues. Too bad that there wasn't a show when we were passing by.
Fast forward to two and half years later, Sara sent me a photo she took in Morayta of Habagat and his partner in crime, Bagwis! Heeheeehee...I did a little research and saw this photo album of a girl who had the privilege of watching those two in action.
Notes about the names I've always loved names—remember the Name Project?—so naturally I'm going to write about this.
Habagat is, in Filipino mythology, the god of winds and typhoons. Accordingly, that's the name of the local southwest monsoon, which is the prevailing wind during the typhoon season.
Habagat is, in the Filipino mythology, the god of winds and typhoons. Accordingly, that's the local name of the Filipino southwest monsoon, which is the prevailing wind during the typhoon season.
Bagwis, on the other hand, is the Tagalog term for "wings", specifically those of a bird's (meaning, it doesn't apply to butterfly wings). It's also the name of a winged Filipino comic book hero armed with a shield and sword.
I think it's a perfect pair of names for partners... But I'm betting that the owner named them after the brothers in Mulawin. Nyuuu~
A little bit delayed, yeah, but whatever. Campus Harvest Manila happened the other week and I'm still feeling the echoes of the excitement during the event. (The tag "campus harvest" still remains to have the biggest font size in my Multiply tag cloud.)
So here I am, jumping into the fun.
In Campus Harvest Asia in 2006, I was part of the worship team, and I always said that my favorite part of it was getting a spectacular view of watching people---thousands and thousands of people---worship God passionately. In 2003 when I was part of the production team, I only got to peek from behind the curtains to see the people. But being on stage during worship time, and openly hearing songs of praise from around me was... it's like a taste of heaven. Overwhelming, really, and sometimes I didn't have time to wonder if I was still hitting the right notes...
This year, though, I wasn't able to stand on that stage and lead worship like we did the last time. This time, I was working for the media center, and we were doing (almost) real-time updating of the site. But it's funny: even though I wasn't actually there in the venue, I felt like I was there, too, because I got to hear all the messages, and I was able to see all the photos. (And before anybody else outside the event, too! Haha!) The messages were GREAT, and even though the event was primarily for students, everyone of all ages can pick more than one or two things from them. (Look at a few of the blog posts submitted in LA Mumar's blog to see what I mean. And while you're at it, add up Campus Harvest Manila's multiply account into your contacts.)
But, finally, in the last day, Saturday, after doing some more work in our Fort building, I ran to the venue and I was able to attend the worship time after the last session. In response to Ea's Campus Harvest blog post, I had said:
. . . as great as it is to help in leading people worship, it feels just as good (or even better!) to see the next batch continuing what God did through us. Kahit pa parang nakakapagpatanda pa sa atin. Haha!
And it really did feel great. Actually, it felt amazing. And to top it off, I was able to look around the stadium again. I was able to get a 360 degree view of thousands and thousands of worshippers... and I didn't have to bother if I was still singing the right lyrics.
Campus Harvest 2003 was great, and every year, it gets better. What more next year? Campus Harvest 2008 was awesome for me, even though I mostly experienced it from the outside: through photos and podcasts. What more if I was actually there?
Hehe. Campus Harvest Manila just ended, but I'm already excited for next year!
Okay, so you're right: Jason Mraz's I'm Yours already has a reggae beat. And although I still think that nothing beats Mraz's original version, no one can deny that Ten Feet's version is good, too. ^_^ And with them being actual Hawaiians, I think their rendition gives it a dash more of that aloha feel. Hehe.
Now I can say it with conviction: the song rocks. Ryan Gillmor's music and lyrics made me root for it ever since the songwriting contest... And when I heard David Archuleta sing it, MAN! I admit I didn't think it would sound this good, but wow, it gave me goosebumps @_@
Hm. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Archey's performance of Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me before it (and Imagine afterwards, too) was superb. Heh.
It's common knowledge that I'm a David Archuleta fan. And it's also common knowledge that most of his performances make me grin like a doofus, but MAN. This one takes the cake! David A sang And So It Goes (Billy Joel), With You (Chris Brown) and Longer (Dan Fogelberg) for the Top 3 night.
David's performance of And So It Goes was brilliant! GENIUS. Mhay ghulay, muntik akong maiyak sa kinauupuan ko. The song is already beautiful, and I've always like Sara Gazarek's version, but David's rendition was... was... ARGH! (I would've liked David to linger a bit more on the pauses, but, hey, that's just me.)
With You was okay. My favorite fast-paced song for David still remains to be Shop Around (60's week), though.
Longer pales in comparison to And So It Goes, but I'm not really complaining.
That kid had better win, I tells ya! (But you know what? I actually think that Cookey will win even though I life Archey better. But let's keep that a secret. Sssssh!)
I was weeding through my hundred gazillion CDs and files in my old desktop computer (now officially my file server) and found the NewSong version of this classic hymn. And now it's my song of the moment. Hm.... I wonder if we can sing this in the worship team. Hehe.
Here are the original lyrics. (I was thinking of posting the NewSong version, but decided against it. ^_^)
How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder Consider all the works Thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power through-out the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Okay, before anybody laughs at me (although I'm pretty sure someone already did), let me explain the significance of this loss.
First of all, it's a starfish earring. A starfish. Most people know by now—and if you don't, well, now you do—that I absolutely love stars.
Secondly, I like that earring because it's small, and it works with whatever I wear: be it office clothes, formal dresses or the all-around shirt and jeans power combo.
Thirdly (and most importantly), it was given to me by Lori, one of my best friends.
Rawr.
*sigh*
Well, at least I still have one of the earrings... I guess I'll just look for another star earring with which I can match the remaining starfish.
...look to the sky, not the ocean. When all seams lost and forever bleek, That's the time you must fall to your knees
And by His grace, you'll see His face. On that day you shall rejoice. Through His mercy you'll hear His voice. 'Arise and walk My son, let your burden be gone.'
-The Most Beautiful Part About This Is Music and lyrics by Merrick Christensen. Guitar: Merrick Christensen Vocals: David Archuleta
Yup, that's my repeat-play song of the week. Waaaaaa... Beautiful lyrics, and a beautiful voice singing it. Aiya.
(And in case you have a keen eye and noticed the 'typo' there, I'm guessing that the writer was being artistic with it. I asked Merrick about it. I'll update this post when he gets back to me.)
Hay. Needless to say, I can't wait for David's CD to come out. Based on the clips on the official website—and, well, the obvious thing that he's a really, really, really good singer, and has been since he was a kid—I think it's gonna be good.^^
